This furniture was produced by French artisans in provincial centers such as Blois, Orleans and Lyon who crafted rustic versions of the elaborate Louis XV and Rococo furniture that was popular in Paris. Their designs combined form and functionality with grace, and made finer living accessible to those who lived in the countryside.
